Build Overview

The Javelin Skill makes you fire a piercing projectile - it increases its damage with your Strength, Dexterity, and Melee Damage from your polearm weapon. All the Throwin Damage stats are increasing the damage by twice the normal amount for this Skill. Forge Guard is a great Class for this Javelin Skill - it has a lot of Physical and Throwing passives that will benefit this build. Use skills such as Lunge, Smite, Rebuke, and Ring of Shields. Lunge automatically casts Smite and Javelin when you Dash, other Spells are mostly increasing your defenses. This version is purely physical, but it has a great potential to be a Fire or Lightning Damage build with different passives and gear.

You can also view the full build on the Last Epoch planner here: Javelin Forge Guard Build

For the defenses, this build utilizes:

  1. Resistances, Armour, and Health from Passives;
  2. Healing from Smite, Rebuke, and Ring of Shields;
  3. Resistances from Rebuke;

 Pros  Cons

 Great defenses

Passive Skill Trees

sentinel
Sentinel Skill Tree (21 Points)

Notable Passives:

  1. Juggernaut [8/8] - it's 24% to Void and Fire Resistance and 8 Strength, which increases your Javelin Damage
  2. Fearless [8/8] -  a lot of Vitality and Health Regen

Void Knight
Void Knight Skill Tree (10 Points)

Notable Passives:

  1. Abyssal Endurance [10/10] - 80 Health and 40% of Void and Physical Resistance for 10 points is a great deal

Forge GuardForge Guard Skill Tree (82 Points)

Notable Passives:

  1. Weapons Master [10/10] - a lot of Strength and Throwing Attack Damage
  2. Peltas [10/10] - even more Throwing Attack Damage with additional Stun Chance
  3. Crushing Blows [6/6] - Damage grows with mana Cost of Attacks
  4. Might [6/6] - Strength improves your Damage, and your Health is increased by 12%
  5. Iron Reflex [10/10] - Dexterity increases your Javelin Damage by 4% per point making it a great passive
  6. Crusader [8/8] - a lot of Critical Strike Chance for Throwing Attacks
  7. Javelineer [6/6] - Critical Strike Multiplier for Throwing Attacks

Forge Guard is undoubtedly the best choice for Physical Javelin build, there's a lot of passives to improve your Damage, Critical Strikes, and some defensive options to choose from. In terms of flexibility - you can swap the passives granting you some specific resistance if you already have this type on your gear, but for the most part, the Skill Trees should remain as they are. Don't go for Melee passives - your Javelin Skill can translate a portion of Melee Damage to Throwing Damage, but only if it comes from your Polearm, any other source is unwanted.

Skills

Note: Left-Clicking on any of the ability trees below will open the full-size version in a new window.

javelin

Javelin - You throw a projectile that deals damage. Siege Barrage and Spike Bombardment make the projectile fall from the sky dealing damage in a circle instead of a line, you throw now 5 Javelins instead of 1 which improves your AoE greatly but also increases the Mana Cost. form a path to Strategic Patience and look out for the passives on your way there, Keen Outlook and Forceful Hurl are some of the best passives on this Skill Tree. If the Mana Cost is too high, put your points into Excellent Balance.

Javelin

Focus

Lunge - Lunge is the movement Skill that can activate some of your Skills. go for Double Strike so you can use it more frequently, Pillum Assault to use Javelin as you hit an enemy with Lunge, and Holy Incursion to have Smite activated in a similar fashion to Javelin. The rest of the points spend on Unstoppable to be Invulnerable while dashing.

Lunge

Smite

Smite - Righteous Fury is an important passive, it grants you Attack Speed. Other useful passives should heal and cleanse. Soothing Balm is one of few mana Regen sources - you should definitely take it. There aren't much more options to choose from, allocate the rest of the recommended passives.

Smite

Ring of Shields

Ring of Shields - The purpose of this Skill is to heal the character when the Shields break. If the Mana Cost is too high, put more points into Tempered Steel, and deduce some points from Amass.

Ring of Shields

Rebuke

Rebuke - it's a Channelgin Spell that with Battle Meditation will regenerate a lot of Mana while also granting a lot of damage mitigation. Redemption heals you while Channeling, take Accelerated Healing and Regenerative Shell to heal even more Health. There's a lot of other passives to choose from, depending on your needs and preferences, look around and pick the ones that suit your playstyle.

Rebuke

Items

Stat priority:

Strength and Dexterity will increase the damage of Javelin by 4% each per one point, it's a good source of damage that you shouldn't look down upon, but by far the most efficient way to boost your DPS is to seek simply Throwing Damage. It's a Physical Attack build, look for the appropriate mods such as Increased Physical Damage, Critical Strike Chance, and its Multiplier for Throwing Skills, and Armor Shred Chance. Almost every gear piece, including Idols, has a chance for increased Throwing Damage - the most preferable mod. Get a lot of Health, Mana Regen, and Resistances. A Two-Handed Polearm is the most preferable type of weapon due to its unique interaction with the Javelin Skill that you're using.

  1. Throwing Damage
  2. Throwing Crit Chance and Crit Multiplier
  3. Health
  4. Physical Damage
  5. Resistances
  6. Mana Regeneration
  7. Strength
  8. Dexterity
  9. Armor
  10. Critical Strike Avoidance
  11. Armor Shred Chance

Recommended Unique Items:

END NOTE

This is the beta version of our Javelin Forge Guard Build for the Last Epoch. We didn't have much time for testing, but this build already shows a lot of promise and outperforms many other Sentinel setups. Obviously, as the game gets new content updates, we will be updating this guide regularly, though it may be impossible to be done after each Patch.
