Gemcutter's Prism – General Information

Gemcutter's Prism (commonly referred to as GCP) is a Path of Exile currency item used to improve the Quality of skill gems. Each prism increases a gem's quality by 1%, up to a maximum of 20%. Quality bonuses vary between active and support gems, but typically enhance overall gem effectiveness—most often resulting in higher damage output.

GCPs are considered valuable in both leveling and endgame scenarios, especially when aiming for fully optimized gem setups. For efficiency, players often use the vendor recipe (level 20 gem + GCP) to obtain a level 1 gem with 20% Quality.

Right click then left click on a gem to increase its quality. Shift click to unstack.

Functionality, Acquisition, and Trading

Functionality: Increases a gem’s quality by 1% per use, up to a 20% maximum. Used directly or in vendor recipes for optimal gem upgrades.

Acquisition: Rare drop from monsters (drop level 12). Can be acquired by vendoring 20% Quality gems or via Divination Cards (e.g., The Gemcutter, The Union, Emperor’s Luck).

In Trade: Frequently traded due to their universal value. Available for all platforms and game modes through player-to-player transactions.
