Introduction

Wardancer makes use of two types of skills: the so-called Esoteric skills that use up her Elemental Meter and deal increased damage because of it, and the regular skills that charge the Elemental Meter up. As a result, her standard gameplay loop revolves around building up resources and then spending them to perform powerful attacks. She has two viable Raiding builds, based on Her Class Engravings: Intention EngravingFirst Intention and  Esoteric Skill EnhancementEsoteric Skill Enhancement. The following build makes use of the latter one. 

Esoteric Skill Enhancement Wardancer focuses on Her Esoteric Skills and employs them to deal considerable amounts of Burst Damage while also being capable of keeping up her DPS for prolonged periods (especially at Tier 3). To do optimal Damage, she relies on proper positioning which can sometimes be problematic as her mobility is limited. While in a group, she provides her team with various potent buffs, which makes her a worthy addition to any team. Defense-wise, She's on the low end but She has some defensive tools at Her disposal.

Stat Priority

Esoteric Skill Enhancement Wardancer benefits from Swiftness and Specialization: Specialization grants Her higher Elemental Meter gains and Siftness makes Her more mobile and gives Her some much-needed Cooldown Reduction. The exact stat spread, you want to go for, with these two stats will depend on the content Tier you're currently on: 

  • For Tiers 1 and 2, you should prioritize Specialization over Swiftness and go for a 60/40 Spec/Siftness stat spread. 
  • For Tier 3, you should aim for 600-700 Specialization and then get as much Swiftness as possible. Doing so will help you achieve high Attack and Movement Speed while taking care of your DPS as well. 

 

Skills

FLASH HEAT FANG
FLASH HEAT FANG

Wardancer throws punches to inflict moderate amounts of damage over 9 separate hits, followed by a powerful finishing blow. 

This Skill offers decent Stagger Damage and boasts a highly increased Crit Rate, which makes it very reliable during boss encounters. It also deals a lot of damage, especially for a non-spender skill. 

  • Weak Point: Level 1 
  • Stagger: Mid 
  • Attack Type: Back Attack 
  • Super Armor: Paralysis Immunity 

Level 12

  1. [Level I] Fist of Darkness Fist of Darkness - Changes the skill's Element to Dark and increases its Crit Rate by up to +40% (at Rank 5). The skill now also inflicts enemies Darkness on enemies for 3 seconds. 
  2. [Level II] Weak Point Detection Weak Point Detection  - Increases the skill's Damage to Push-Immune enemies by up to +96% (at Rank 5). Bosses are push-immune, so this serves as a nice damage increase during Raids. 
  3. [Level III] Adrenaline Rush Adrenaline Rush - Changes the final move to an uppercut, knocking foes down. On hit, outgoing Damage +570%. Crit Rate +30%. 
  4. [RUNE] OverwhelmOverwhelm - A rune that makes the Skill deal +30% Stagger Damage (Legendary Rune). This will help you help your team with stagger checks. 
ENERGY COMBUSTION
ENERGY COMBUSTION

Wardancer erupts the energy stored inside her to push enemies away, dealing moderate amounts of damage. Then, she calls forth a gust that shrouds her body, damaging enemies every 0.5 seconds for 35 seconds. 

This will deal constant damage for as long as you stay close to the boss. Always have it active before engaging. Over the course of an encounter, this skill will amount to a lot of damage because of its almost 100% uptime. It also generates a solid amount of Identity Gauge. 

Level 12

  1. [Level I] Esoteric Extortion Esoteric Extortion - Increases Elemental Meter gained on Energy Combustion hit by up to + 75% (at Rank 5). This will help you generate your resource much faster. 
  2. [Level II] Intense Battle Intense Battle  - Increases Damage to Enemies by 5%, up to 50% for 2 seconds on Energy Combustion Hit. If you don't have high-level Cooldown Gems and lack Swiftness, you should use Skill ReductionSkill Reduction instead. 
  3. [Level III] Last Whisper Last Whisper - With this, the encircling squall causes an explosion upon expiring, inflicting additional Damage equal to 166% (at Rank 5) of total Damage inflicted by default energy before knocking enemies into the air. 
  4. [RUNE] WealthWealth - With this Rune, your Identity Meter gained from using the ability will be increased by another 30% (with Epic Rune).

Esoteric Skill

Wardancer creates a tornado that attacks enemies for moderate amounts of Damage 13 times over 3 seconds and pulls them close. Wardancer can move up to 12 meters while using this Skill. 

This is one of your nuke skills that will consume Orbs when used (because of the  Esoteric Skill EnhancementEsoteric Skill Enhancement Engraving). You should activate your self-buffs before unleashing this skill on your enemies. It deals great Stagger as well. 

  • Stagger: High 
  • Attack Type: Back Attack 
  • Super Armor: Paralysis Immunity 

Level 12

  1. [Level I] Lightning Storm Lightning Storm - Changes the skill's Element to Lightning. It now creates a Lightning Storm that has a 20% chance on each hit to deal additional Damage equal to 160% (at Rank 5) of the skill's Base Damage. Considering the total number of hits, this is almost certain bonus damage. 
  2. [Level II] Growth Attack Growth Attack - With this Engraving, each Tornado hit increases the skill's Damage by +12% (at Rank 5), up to a total of +108%. 
  3. [Level III] Summon Storm Summon Storm - Changes to Normal mode and removes back attack effect. Slowly calls forth tornado winds from every direction that chases foes for 3seconds. Damage to foes +40% (at Rank 1). On a hit, Push is removed and inflicts Paralysis. This makes the skill more dynamic and easier to use to its full potential. 
  4. [RUNE] GalewindGalewind - Increase the skill's casting speed. With this, the Skill's animation becomes much faster, making it much more dynamic. 
BLAST FORMATION
BLAST FORMATION

Esoteric Skill

Wardancer strikes the ground to cause three explosions. The explosions advance forward in consecutive order to inflict increasing amounts of damage. Struck enemies are launched into the air. You have Paralysis immunity while using this skill. 

This is a very powerful spender skill that amounts to a solid portion of your total burst damage, especially with the chosen Tripods. 

  • Stagger: Mid 
  • Attack Type: Back Attack 
  • Super Armor: Paralysis Immunity 

Level 12

  1. [Level I] Weak Point DetectionWeak Point Detection - Increases the damage dealt to push-immune enemies by up to +60% (at Rank 5). Bosses tend to be push-immune, so this will increase your DPS during Raid encounters. 
  2. [Level II] Flame ExplosionFlame Explosion - Changes the skill's Element to Fire and adds a Damage over Time component to it. Damaged enemies will now be engulfed in flames and receive Fire Damage every second for 5 seconds. This effect stacks up to 6 times, which can potentially make its damage devastating. 
  3. [Level III] Great ExplosionGreat Explosion - After the third explosion, another great explosion will occur to inflict Damage equal to 120% of Base Damage (at Rank 5). This gives you additional AoE and Flame ExplosionFlame Explosion synergy. 
  4. [RUNE] GalewindGalewind - Increase the skill's casting speed. With this, the Skill's animation becomes much faster. 
MOON FLASH KICK
MOON FLASH KICK

Wardancer charges forward while kicking, inflicting two damaging hits. Then, the skill can be pressed 3 times to deliver 4 additional kicks at a very fast speed to deal additional damage and perform a spinning kick followed by a finishing blow that knocks enemies back. 

This is an amazing Elemental Meter generator, especially when you pair it with a WealthWealth Rune. It also deals a rather decent Stagger.

  • Super Armor: Paralysis Immunity 

Level 11

  1. [Level I] White Flame Kick White Flame Kick - Changes the skill's Element to Fire. The skill now also burns enemies when the rapid kick attack lands 4 times, dealing additional fire damage every second for 5 seconds. 
  2. [Level II] Single Hit Single Hit - Increases the skill's Damage when it's used against a single enemy by up to +80% (at Rank 5). This Engraving is perfect against Bosses. 
  3. [Level III] Full Moon Kick Full Moon Kick - Changes the Skill to Normal mode. You now Charge forward and spin to land a finishing blow that inflicts +341% Damage (at Rank 5). This makes the skill much more dynamic and concentrates its damage in one big hit. 
  4. [RUNE] WealthWealth - With this Rune, your Elemental Meter gained from using the ability will be increased by another 40% (with Legendary Rune). This is a nice buff to your Esoteric Skills. 
WIND'S WHISPER
WIND'S WHISPER

Wardancer gains the blessing of wind for all party members within a 24 meters radius, increasing Move Speed by 11% and Attack Speed by 5.5% for 6 seconds. 

This is a team synergy skill that also provides you with very potent self-buffs. It will increase the Move Speed and Attack Speed of all your teammates while also giving you Attack Speed and Attack Power boost. 

Level 10

  1. [Level I] Blessing of the Wind Blessing of the Wind - On skill use, increases your Attack Speed by up to +12,8% (at Rank 5) for 6 seconds. 
  2. [Level II] Quick Preparation Quick Preparation  - Reduces the skill's Cooldown by up to -9s (at Rank 5). This potentially cuts almost 1/3 of WIND'S WHISPERWind's Whisper's base Cooldown, which is massive. 
  3. [Level III] Ready Attack Ready Attack - With this, WIND'S WHISPERWind's Whisper will also grant you a high bonus to Attack Power for 6 seconds. 
  4. [RUNE] FocusFocus - This Rune lowers the skill's Mana consumption by quite a lot, making it much more cost-effective. 
ROAR OF COURAGE
ROAR OF COURAGE

Wardancer lets out a battle cry, inflicting moderate amounts of damage and pushing surrounding enemies away. On hit, the enemies' Crit Resistance is lowered by 3% for 6 seconds. 

This gives you another powerful party-wide effect. Mainly, it reduces enemies' Crit Resistance by 10%, making them much more susceptible to being critically hit. Also, thanks to the Esoteric ExtortionEsoteric Extortion Engraving, it generates a solid portion of your Identity Gauge. 

  • Weak Point: Level 1 
  • Attack Type: Back Attack

Level 10

  1. [Level I] Esoteric ExtortionEsoteric Extortion - Grants you up to +38% (at Rank 5) of Esoteric Meter. 
  2. [Level II] Supreme Ruler Afterimage Supreme Ruler Afterimage  - Increases the skill's effect duration by 2 seconds. This equals a higher debuff uptime, which is great. 
  3. [Level III] Fatal Wave Fatal Wave - This makes ROAR OF COURAGERoar of Courage reduce the target's Crit Resistance by 10%. 
  4. [RUNE] FocusFocus - This Rune lowers the skill's Mana consumption by quite a lot, making it much more cost-effective. 
SKY SHATTERING BLOW
SKY SHATTERING BLOW

Wardancer performs a roundhouse kick, dealing moderate amounts of damage. If the skill is used again, Striker kicks upward, sending targets flying and inflicting another damaging hit. Direction can be changed during the additional attacks. 

This is your Counter Attack that also increases your Attack Power for 3 seconds after it's used (thanks to the Ready AttackReady Attack Engraving). 

  • Attack Type: Back Attack, Frontal Attack 
  • Counter: Yes 

Level 7

  1. [Level I] Excellent MobilityExcellent Mobility - Increases the move distance of the first kick move by 1 meter. 
  2. [Level II] Ready AttackReady Attack  - With this Engraving, the second strike of SKY SHATTERING BLOWSky Shattering Blow will also increase your Attack Power by up to +27.6% (at Rank 5) for 3 seconds. 
  3. [RUNE] BleedBleed -  This Rune makes SKY SHATTERING BLOWSky Shattering Blow inflict all enemies hit with a Bleeding effect for 6 seconds. Thanks to SKY SHATTERING BLOWSky Shattering Blow's low cooldown, Bleed provides a nice boost to DPS. 
AWAKENING
FLASH RAGE BLOW
FLASH RAGE BLOW

Wardancer crouches and then dashes 6 meters forward in a straight line. Hold the skill hotkey to make Her deliver vicious strikes that deal very high amounts of damage, followed by the shockwave that knocks enemies back. Releasing the skill key before the Holding Meter is maxed out will produce a minor shockwave with reduced power. 

This is a better and more dynamic offensive skill than the FIST OF DOMINANCEFist of Dominance, but the latter offers an 80% Damage Resistance bonus. The choice between these two is yours. 

  • Stagger: High 
  • Super Armor: Push Immunity, Debuff Immunity 

 

Rotations/Skill Usage

  • Roar of CourageRoar of Courage and Wind's WhisperWind's Whisper are your self and party buffs. You should activate them before using your most powerful attacks (Esoteric Skill: Blast FormationEsoteric Skill: Blast Formation and Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind GodEsoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God ). 
  • You don't have any Mobility Skills, with the exception of the Spacebar dodge. Keep this in mind and pay attention to your positioning before using your Spender Skills as missing them will be painful. 
  • Always activate Energy CombustionEnergy Combustion before engaging a boss in melee. 
  • SKY SHATTERING BLOWSky Shattering Blow is your Counter Attack. It also boosts your Attack Power for 3 seconds.  
  • You'll be forced to auto-attack during the skill downtime. The most effective way of doing so is to hold down the movement key while tapping your mouse1 (basic attack) repeatedly - this will make you perform a basic attack cancel which is faster than just doing the regular basic attack combo. 

Your main damage rotation looks as follows: 

  1. Activate Energy CombustionEnergy Combustion before closing in 
  2. Use Moon Flash KickMoon Flash Kick 
  3. Use Flash Heat FangFlash Heat Fang 
  4. Activate Wind's WhisperWind's Whisper 
  5. Activate Roar of CourageRoar of Courage 
  6. Use Esoteric Skill: Blast FormationEsoteric Skill: Blast Formation 
  7. Use Esoteric Skill: Call of the Wind GodEsoteric Skill: Call of the Wind God 
  8. Auto-Attack (just like described above) until Roar of CourageRoar of Courage and Wind's WhisperWind's Whisper are available again, then Rinse and Repeat. 

 

Recommended Engravings

  1. Esoteric Skill EnhancementEsoteric Skill Enhancement (Class Engraving) - Increases the maximum number of Elemental Orbs by 1 and increases Damage done by Esoteric Skills by (Level 1: 8%, Level 2: 10%, Level 3: 12%) per each Elemental Orb you have. 

With this, your Esoteric Skills will scale extremely well with your Elemental Orbs (for up to +48% Damage at 4 Orbs and Level 3 Esoteric Skill EnhancementEsoteric Skill Enhancement). You can get away with having this at Level 1 initially, but you should work on getting it to Level 3. 

  1. GrudgeGrudge - Increases your Damage Dealt to Bosses (Level 1: +4%, Level 2: +10%, Level 3: +20%), but makes you take 20% more damage from them. 

Grudge is one of the most powerful offensive Engravings, but it comes with a severe drawback that may get you killed. Esoteric Skill Enhancement Wardancer is not the most mobile of the Classes (she lacks a mobility skill), so GrudgeGrudge's downside is even more painful than usual for Her. Pick it up only if you feel like you can avoid most (or all) avoidable damage during boss encounters. If you're still learning mechanics, you'll be better off skipping it. Also, remember that it's only worth using at Level 3, so never use it at level 2 and especially 1 (unless you want to take 5% more damage for every 1% increase in your own DPS). 

  1. Raid CaptainRaid Captain - Increases Damage Dealt by a percentage (Level 1: +10%, Level 2: +22%, Level 3: +45%) of basic Move Speed Bonus. 

This Engraving is great because you are stacking Swiftness which increases your Movement Speed. If you're on a very tight budget (you're making this Character as an Alt, for example), you can pair this with Spirit AbsorptionSpirit Absorption

  1. Cursed DollCursed Doll - Increases Attack Power at the cost of reduced 25% Healing Received (does not affect natural Health recovery (Level 1 - +3% Attack Power, Level 2 - 8% Attack Power, Level 3 - +16% Attack Power).

This Engraving can boost your offensive power rather significantly, but the tradeoff is painful. Only pick it if you know encounter mechanics very well; If you lack experience, skip it. Also, using this at Levels 1 and 2 is not worth the risks involved (so, use it at Level 3 or don't use it at all). 

  1. Increases MassIncrease Mass - Increases your Attack Power by (Level 1: +4%, Level 2: +10%, Level 3: +18%) at the cost of 10% reduced Attack Speed. 

If you have A LOT of Attack Speed, you can replace Cursed DollCursed Doll with this one as its drawback is going to be less painful in such a case. Pick it up if you have 140% Attack Speed or more. 

  1. AdrenalineAdrenaline - When using skills other than mobile and basic attacks, attack power increases by (Lv. 1: 0.3%, Lv. 2: 0.6%, Lv. 3: 1%) for 6 seconds (stacks up to 6), and when this effect reaches its maximum stack, critical hit rate increases by an additional (Lv. 1: 5%, Lv. 2: 10%, Lv. 3: 15%). This effect is applied after the skill ends if the cooldown time reduction due to skill cancellation is applied. 

This build really needs some additional Crit Rate and AdrenalineAdrenaline can provide plenty of it (it also provides some Attack Power, which is always welcome). Just keep in mind that you'll need a lot of Swiftness to really make this one work - pick it up only if you've reached Tier 3 and already have plenty of Cooldown Reduction (from both Swiftness and Gems). 

  1. AwakeningAwakening - Reduces the Cooldown of your Awakening Skill by (level 1: 10%, Level 2: 25%, Level 3: 50%) and increases the maximum number of uses by (Level 1: +1, Level 2: +3, Level 3: +3). 

This will greatly boost the overall effectiveness of your Awakening Skill. It also pairs very well with the effect of the Dominion Fang Set. 

  1. Keen Blunt Weapon Keen Blunt Weapon - Increases your Crit Damage (Level 1: +10%, Level 2: +25%, Level 3: +50%) but also gives your attacks a chance to deal 20% Reduced Damage. 

The more Crit Rate you have, the more powerful this Engraving becomes. If you have a ~60% Crit Rate, Keen Blunt Weapon Keen Blunt Weapon is definitely a solid option for the build. 

 

Gear Sets, Gems, Cards, etc.

  • Gear Sets - As a DPS Class, Wardancer wants Her set to boost her offensive capabilities as much as possible. Here are the optimal Sets for each Tier: 
    • Tier 1: Seraphic Oath Set (Epic); Boisterous Elemental Set (Legendary) 
    • Tier 2: Marvelous Earth Set (Epic); Unyielding Will Set (Legendary) 
    • Tier 3: Twisted Dimensional Set (Epic); Preordained Diligence Set (Legendary)
    • Late Game mixed Set options: 
      • Over 1415 GS: Preordained Diligence Set Gloves and Shoulders (Legendary) + Demon Beast Strength Set Chest, Head, Weapon, and Legs (Legendary) 
      • Over 1430 GS: Preordained Diligence Set Gloves and Shoulders (Legendary) + Demon Beast Strength Set Chest and Legs (Legendary) + Dominion Fang Set Head and Weapon (Relic) 
      • Over 1445 GS: Preordained Diligence Set Gloves and Shoulders (Legendary) + Dominion Fang Set Head, Legs, Chest, and Weapon (Relic) 
  • Gems -  With these, you can apply a Cooldown Reduction or Bonus Damage to your Skills. There is a limit of 11 Gems; you should distribute them in the following way: 
    • You should use Cooldown Reduction Gems on the following Skills: Blast FormationBlast FormationMoon Flash KickMoon Flash KickFlash Heat FangFlash Heat Fang, Sky Shattering BlowSky Shattering Blow, Roar of CourageRoar of Courage, Wind's WhisperWind's Whisper
    • You should use Attack Gems on the following Skills: Blast FormationBlast FormationMoon Flash KickMoon Flash KickFlash Heat FangFlash Heat Fang, Energy CombustionEnergy Combustion, Call of the Wind GodCall of the Wind God 
  • Cards - Depending on your budget, you should go for one of the following Card Sets: 
    • Light of Salvation Set - A Full set offers +30% Dark Damage Reduction, changes your Damage type to Holy, and increases your Holy Damage dealt by 15%. This is the optimal Set for the build. 
    • Three Umar Families Set - A Full set offers +12% Back Attack Damage to Enemies, -7.5% Damage from Guardians during Guardian Raids, 5% Elemental Damage Reduction, +2% Elemental Damage Done, A chance to Increase All Elemental Damage by 24% for 8 seconds. This is a relatively cheap option, only worth using if you have the Back Attack Damage bonus from it. 
    • Lostwind Cliff Set - A Full set offers +25% Dark Damage Reduction and +7% Critical Rate. This one is the cheapest of the recommended three.
