Best Legendary Farming Spots in Borderlands 4 – Introduction

Farming Legendary items has always been one of the defining and most enjoyable aspects of the Borderlands experience — and Borderlands 4 continues that tradition. Every Vault Hunter eventually reaches the point where chasing orange drops becomes the heart of the gameplay loop, both for progression and the pure satisfaction of seeing that beam of loot appear after a tough fight. Choosing your farming locations wisely is crucial, though. The right spots not only save you hours of repetitive grinding but also make the process far more engaging and rewarding. With so many enemies, mini-bosses, and hidden chests scattered across the worlds, picking efficient routes can be the difference between a fun session and a frustrating one.

In this guide, we’re focusing primarily on early- and mid-game farming spots — locations that offer consistent Legendary drops without requiring top-tier builds or fully optimized loadouts. Once you reach the endgame, your farming goals tend to become much more specific, as you’ll likely be targeting particular Legendaries that drop from designated bosses or activities. We’ll be expanding on those in future, more specialized guides. For now, we’re deliberately avoiding so-called “exploit” strategies — such as the method where a “friend” endlessly spams the Moxxi machine while you reset the instance by moving or jumping through certain trigger spots. In our view, that kind of farming isn’t particularly enjoyable, and it often requires either a second game license or a macro setup. Finding a real player willing to do that manually for hours would be... optimistic, to say the least.

1. Splashzone – Early Legendary Farming Spot

In Borderlands 4, all boss farming is made possible by Moxxi’s Big Encore machine, which lets you instantly reset boss encounters without restarting the entire area or reloading your save. This mechanic is what enables efficient Legendary farming throughout the game and makes hunting specific drops far more convenient than in previous titles.

One of the first opportunities to take advantage of this system appears in the Splashzone arena, accessible early in the campaign. It’s a great introduction to how the Encore mechanic works — after defeating the boss, you can simply double-jump onto the nearby platform, activate Moxxi’s machine to reset the encounter, and jump straight back in. No exploits, macros, or cooperative “helpers” are needed — just fast, legitimate farming that makes Splashzone an excellent starting point for building up your early collection of Legendary gear.

2. Electi Safe – Early World Drop Farming Area

Located just northeast of the Makeshift Chalet safehouse, Electi Safe is one of the most efficient early-to-mid game farming areas for Vault Hunters looking to quickly upgrade their gear. Instead of a single boss encounter, this area spawns large groups of Badass and Vile enemies, which boast noticeably higher world drop rates than standard foes. While it doesn’t feature a dedicated boss or Moxxi’s Big Encore machine, its density and enemy quality make it a great spot to grind Legendary items through raw combat alone.

The area becomes accessible fairly early — around level 15+, when many players start looking for better gear but may still struggle with tougher boss fights. Thanks to its proximity to the Makeshift Chalet safehouse, it’s extremely easy to reset: simply quit to the main menu and reload your game to refresh all spawns. If you’re aiming for efficient world drops without relying on specific bosses or mechanics, Electi Safe is arguably the best early-game farming location in Borderlands 4.

3. Driller Hole – Fast Boss Farm for Katagawa’s Revenge

Driller Hole is one of the main story boss encounters in Borderlands 4, but it also happens to be among the easiest and fastest to farm. The arena design and short approach path allow you to jump in, take down the boss, and exit just as quickly — making repeated runs smooth and efficient. Like other boss encounters, it can be instantly reset through Moxxi’s Big Encore machine, letting you farm multiple attempts in a matter of minutes.

What makes this spot truly worthwhile is its exclusive loot table. Driller Hole has an increased chance to drop Katagawa’s Revenge, a powerful Legendary sniper rifle that stands out as one of the best in the game. Securing this weapon early can dramatically change your farming potential — its range, damage, and utility make nearly every other farming location easier and more profitable. While the fight itself might seem slightly tougher for underleveled players, the reward more than justifies the effort, as Katagawa’s Revenge can open up entirely new farming possibilities for your Vault Hunter.

4. Ripper Drill Sites – High-Intensity Multi-Boss Loot Runs

The “Ripper Drill Sites” in Borderlands 4 are some of the most lucrative farming spots for players aiming for serious Legendary loot. Once you clear the encounter the first time, a Moxxi’s Big Encore machine is spawned, allowing you to unlock and repeat the fight quickly and reliably. Two of the most popular sites in this category are Pango & Bango and the Battle Wagon arena - both confirmed to have above-average loot yield.

  • The Pango & Bango site (located in Carcadia) is quite easy to access from the Makeshift Chalet Safehouse, and you can clear the Electi Safe mentioned earlier, just along the way. It is quite easy, and the fight offers solid rewards, due to it being a double-boss setup
  • The Battle Wagon encounter likewise offers excellent drop potential, thanks to high enemy density and favorable spawn resets. The adds on the Wagon drop their own loot, making this fight particularly rewarding

Reset Loop Exploit – Fast-Travel Between Two Drill Sites

While the above sites are fully legitimate and enjoyable, some players have found a fast-travel loop exploit between two specific Drill Sites: Saw’s Clench Drill Site and Old Scrape Drill Site. Here’s how the method works:

  1. Clear each site once so that the bosses are unlocked and the instance is registered.
  2. Instead of using Moxxi's machine after each clear, you fast-travel back to the other site via the nearby fast-travel locations.
  3. When you arrive, the boss will have respawned without needing to do a full area clear.
  4. Repeat between the two sites for rapid boss kills and fresh loot drops.

Please note: while this method is widely discussed in player forums, it delves into exploit territory — it bypasses the intended reset mechanic (Moxxi’s machine) and may carry risk of future patch changes or developer disapproval. Use it at your own discretion.
