Diablo 4 Season of Blood Guide

A complete guide for the new Diablo 4 Season of Blood

Season of Blood Guide

The new Season of the Blood brings us new and exciting challenges to overcome, massive balance changes, and monsters to defeat. It also lets you use Vampiric Powers - a new way of improving your beloved character. In this guide, we will teach you the nuances of this exhilarating mechanic, how and where to engage with it, and what rewards await you.

Overview

The main themes of this Season are Vampires and their powers. When you continue to release the land of Sanctuary from their evil grasp, you will be rewarded with Potent Blood, which you can use to upgrade or obtain Vampiric Powers. There is a total of 22 Powers, but you can use only 5 of them at once, so you have to make a choice which ability you want to embrace. Each Power can be upgraded up to a level 3, with each level greatly enhancing the magnitude of the Power bonuses. Another catch is that every Power has its specific Pact requirements, although it is nothing to worry about as you can easily adjust those Pacts to your needs.

Blood Harvest

During your time spent in the Sanctuary, you will be able to partake in the Blood Harvest Event. They happen in randomized locations all around the world, similar to the Helltide Event, but there is no downtime for them, you are always guaranteed to be able to engage with them.

The Blood Harvest is a great opportunity to kill masses of enemies in order to obtain valuable loot. The density of enemies is also exceptionally high, which makes it extremely fun to do. As a mentioned reward, you will get tons of regular drops like Unique and Legendary Gear Pieces, but you will also get Seasonal currencies. Those include:

  1. Potent Blood - a main Currency used to engage with Vampiric Powers. By spending it you can acquire, unlock, or upgrade your Powers.
  2. Cleansing Acid - you can use them to remove Pacts from your equipment, which are quite important to properly manage.
  3. Itemized Pacts - used to adjust the Pacts on your equipment.
  4. Reputation - by raising your Reputation with the Hunter's faction will unlock special rewards.
  5. Blood Lures - can be used to summon even more Enemies in designated spots.
  6. Seeker Keys - obtainable through killing Lured Enemies, those can be used to free up prisoners and open Seeker Caches, which will award you regular loot as well as special Pact Consumables and Potent Blood.

The Blood Harvest is currently the best activity to level up and acquire better Equipment for your character. Fortunately, it is also very fun, so do not hesitate and try it out today!

Obtaining Vampiric Powers

There are 3 ways to obtain your Vampiric Powers. Each Power has a predesignated source, which you can check by hovering over it in your Vampiric Power inventory tab.

  1. The Vampiric Questline awards you 5 Vampiric Powers: Hectic, Metamorphosis, Moonrise, Ravenous, and Undying. It is the most obvious way to obtain Vampiric Powers, as you should complete this Questline anyway.
  2. The Hunter's Acclaim faction rewards you with 2 important Vampiric Powers: Sanguine Brace and Accursed Touch upon reaching levels 4 and 9 of their reputation.
  3. The remaining Vampiric Powers are randomly unlocked every time you spend Potent Blood.

Upgrading Vampiric Powers

Each Vampiric Power can be upgraded two times, up to a maximum level of 3. With each level, their effect becomes stronger, has a lower cooldown, or has a higher chance to trigger.

To upgrade your Powers you have to spend 25 Potent Blood. You can do it by simply clicking the button in your Vampiric Powers menu. Upon doing so you will get offered 3 options: either unlock a new Vampiric Power or upgrade 2 of your already unlocked Powers. The upgradable Powers are choices at random, and you can only choose between those 2. To fully upgrade each Power you will need 400 Potent Blood, including the unlock cost. It is a very affordable amount, so you don't have to worry about hours of grinding. The upgrade process is somewhat daunting, as you can spend only 25 Potent Blood at once, but it might be changed in future patches. In such case we would make an update, so remember to check Odealo.com articles regularly!

Overall, obtaining and upgrading all your desired Vampiric Powers is a very fast process, and you will obtain tons of loot and experience along the way anyway.

Vampiric Pacts

One last thing you need to do before you can fully enjoy your new powers are the Vampiric Pacts. In order to activate your Vampiric Powers you have to have to fulfill their requirements, in the form of Vampiric Pacts. On your armour pieces, you can find a new property: Pacts Granted. Helmets and Boots grant 3 of them, Pants can have up to 4, while Chest Armour and Gloves provide as many as 5 Pacts. There are 3 different types of them: Ferocity, Divinity, and Eternity, with no distinctive function between each other. As you can see, you can have up to 20 Vampiric Pacts, which means you can't only use the major Powers, as they cost 6 Pacts each, for a total of 30 Pacts if you were to equip 5 of them. Fortunately, minor Vampiric Powers also provide amazing bonuses.

You can easily adjust the Pacts on your Gear using 4 new types of currency: Cleansing Acid, which by default removes all Pacts on your Gear, allowing you to add other types, and can be adjusted by Alchemist NPC to only remove a certain amount of them instead; and itemized Pacts of Ferocity, Eternity, and Divinity, which add 1 Pact of their corresponding nature to your piece of equipment. Can't be used on an Item with the maximum amount of Pacts granted.

Every new Item you If you spend any amount of time farming the Blood Harvest, you will be swimming in those Items. Adjusting the Pacts to your needs is not a problem, so there is no need to hoard them or carefully plan their usage.

Vampiric Powers

Finally, a list of all available Vampiric Powers at your disposal. Every Class can use every Power, as long as you have enough Pacts for that. Their bonuses are rather universal, but some Powers are simply more useful in certain situations than others, so feel free to experiment and adjust them as you go.

It is also important to explain the Vampiric Curse. It is a special Ailment which you can inflict only with specific Vampiric Powers. Upon killing an Enemy afflicted with this Curse will grant you a 1 stack, which you can then release by using Agility, Defensive, or Macabre Skills. The Damage dealt by this effect is useful to have, but also not that great to be worth building around. However, this Curse interacts with other Vampiric Powers that can improve your Damage otherwise, for example by inflicting Cursed Enemies with Vulnerability.
