Summoner Warlock Build for Diablo 2 Resurrected
Summon devastating Demons, adapt your army, and clear endgame content with one of the most versatile and easy to play Warlock builds.Summoner Warlock Build
Last Update: July 17, 2026
Introduction
Demon Summoner Warlock commands a relentless army of Demons that overwhelms enemies through sheer numbers, powerful synergies, and relentless pressure. Rather than sacrificing summons for burst damage, the build focuses on strengthening every Demon through passive bonuses, support skills, and carefully selected gear, allowing your minions to tear through monsters while you control the battlefield from a safe distance. Combined with durable frontline Demons, reliable crowd control, and excellent scaling into the late game, Summoner Warlock offers one of the safest and most beginner-friendly playstyles available for the class.
As your equipment improves, Summoner Warlock evolves into a formidable endgame farmer capable of clearing even the most challenging content with remarkable consistency. High-end items dramatically increase both the strength and survivability of your Demons, while Enigma allows instant repositioning of your entire army to maximize damage against elite packs and bosses. Supported by an Act 2 Mercenary wielding Infinity and an ever-growing legion of empowered Demons, the build combines outstanding survivability, excellent boss damage, and dependable area clear, making it one of the strongest all-around Warlock builds for players who enjoy commanding a permanent army rather than relying on direct spellcasting.
Recommended Breakpoints
- Faster Hit Recovery (FHR): 86% (recommended)
- Faster Cast Rate (FCR): 125% (ideal endgame)
Stat Allocation
- Strength: Enough to meet gear attribute requirements
- Dexterity: Enough to meet gear attribute requirements
- Vitality: Invest all
- Energy: Nothing
Demon Summoner Warlock relies on powerful permanent Demons rather than direct spellcasting, making survivability far more valuable than additional Mana. Endgame gear, Charms, and equipment provide more than enough Mana to comfortably summon and reposition your army, while Dexterity offers little benefit outside of meeting item requirements. After allocating enough Strength for your equipment, virtually every remaining attribute point should be invested into Vitality, allowing you to stay alive while directing your Demons through the most dangerous encounters.
Pros
- Extremely Safe Playstyle
- Beginner & Ladder Starter Friendly
- Strong Boss Damage
- Low Gear Requirements
Cons
- Dependent on Summon AI
- Less Active Gameplay Than Other Warlock Builds

Skill Trees

Summoner Warlock is one of the smoothest Warlock builds to level, as its core playstyle is available very early and gradually becomes stronger with every additional skill point. Begin by investing into your primary Demon summons, allowing them to do the majority of the fighting while you stay safely behind your frontline. As new skills become available, continue strengthening your Demons through their synergies and passive bonuses, creating a steadily growing army capable of handling every stage of Normal and Nightmare with minimal gear investment.
As your summons become more powerful, utility skills play an increasingly important role. Support abilities that improve your Demons' survivability, damage, or positioning greatly increase overall efficiency, while Teleport from Enigma later transforms the build by allowing you to instantly relocate your entire army onto priority targets. This dramatically improves boss killing, elite hunting, and clear speed in dense farming areas.
Once your core summoning skills are fully developed and key endgame items begin to come together, Summoner Warlock evolves into one of the safest and most reliable PvM builds available. A fully empowered Demon army is capable of clearing high-density content with little direct risk to the player, making the transition from leveling to endgame exceptionally smooth while requiring very few changes to the overall playstyle.
Gear
Weapon selection for the Summoner Warlock depends heavily on the type of Demons you choose to specialize in. Obsession is considered one of the strongest overall options, providing a huge boost to Skill Levels, Faster Cast Rate, and valuable caster stats that improve both summoning speed and the power of your entire army. For players running a Goatmen-focused setup, Beast becomes one of the strongest choices thanks to its Fanaticism Aura, greatly increasing their Attack Speed and physical damage output. Players looking to maximize raw summon power can also consider Mang Song's Lesson, which provides exceptional Skill bonuses that significantly improve Demon damage. During progression, Heart of the Oak remains an excellent alternative thanks to +3 Skills, Faster Cast Rate, Resistances, and Mana, while Spirit offers outstanding value for early endgame setups.
Ars Tor'Baalos is the premier off-hand option for Summoner Warlock, providing powerful bonuses designed specifically around Demon-based builds and significantly increasing the effectiveness of your army. Until obtaining this item, Spirit Monarch remains the preferred budget alternative, offering +2 Skills, Faster Cast Rate, Faster Hit Recovery, Mana, and Resistances while improving overall casting comfort. The shield slot is one of the most important parts of the build, as it directly impacts both summon strength and general survivability.
Helmet choice depends on your preferred Demon setup. Demonhead is one of the strongest offensive options for maximizing summon damage, while Flickering Flame is an excellent choice for Fire-based Demon variants thanks to its Fire Resistance reduction and defensive bonuses. Harlequin Crest remains one of the most versatile options, providing +2 Skills, Life, Mana, Damage Reduction, and Magic Find. A Rare Warlock Circlet with +Skills, Faster Cast Rate, Resistances, Life, or additional utility modifiers can become the strongest choice for highly optimized setups.
Enigma is the defining armor choice for Summoner Warlock, completely changing the way the build plays by allowing instant repositioning of your entire Demon army. Teleport solves summon pathfinding issues, improves boss fights, and dramatically increases farming efficiency. The additional +2 Skills, Strength, Life bonuses, and Magic Find make it unmatched for endgame gameplay. Before obtaining Enigma, Skin of the Vipermagi remains one of the strongest progression choices thanks to Skills, Faster Cast Rate, and Resistances, while Chains of Honor provides a more defensive alternative.
Glove selection is relatively flexible. Magefist is a strong caster option thanks to 20% Faster Cast Rate and Mana regeneration, helping maintain smooth summoning and repositioning. Trang-Oul's Claws provide the same Faster Cast Rate together with additional defensive utility, making them another excellent choice. If casting breakpoints are already covered, Rare Gloves with Life, Resistances, or Magic Find can provide additional customization.
Boot choices depend mainly on your preferred balance between offense and defense. Wraithstep is one of the strongest offensive options thanks to its Demon-related bonuses, further increasing the power of your army. Marrowwalk provides useful defensive stats and utility, while Rare Boots with Faster Run/Walk, Life, Resistances, and Faster Hit Recovery remain excellent endgame alternatives for optimizing specific requirements.
For belts, Arachnid Mesh is the strongest overall choice, providing +1 Skill Level and 20% Faster Cast Rate that improve both Demon strength and summoning speed. Players who already reach their desired casting breakpoints can consider defensive options such as Verdungo's Hearty Cord, which offers Life, Faster Hit Recovery, and Physical Damage Reduction. During progression, Rare or Crafted Caster Belts with Life, Mana, Resistances, and Faster Cast Rate provide a reliable replacement.
Jewelry focuses mainly on increasing Skill Levels while improving survivability and utility. Mara's Kaleidoscope remains one of the strongest all-around options thanks to +2 Skills, Resistances, and Attributes, while a Rare or Crafted Warlock Amulet with +Skills, Faster Cast Rate, Life, and Resistances can become superior in optimized setups. The Stone of Jordan is an excellent offensive ring due to its additional Skill Level and Mana bonus, while Bul-Kathos' Wedding Band provides extra Life and another valuable Skill Level. Rare Rings with Faster Cast Rate, Life, Mana, Resistances, Strength, or Magic Find can also be used to complete specific endgame setups.
Charms
Charms for the Demon Summoner Warlock are primarily focused on increasing the power of your Demons while improving survivability and consistency during endgame farming.
The Warlock Hellfire Torch and Annihilus are mandatory in every completed setup, providing valuable Skill Levels, Attributes, and All Resistances. After securing those, Demon Skill Grand Charms are the preferred choice for maximizing the damage and durability of your summoned army, with Life being the most desirable secondary modifier. Depending on your chosen Demon setup, additional utility Charms can also be valuable, especially those providing Faster Hit Recovery, Resistances, Mana, or Magic Find. Unlike many elemental builds, Demon Summoner Warlock does not rely heavily on a Sunder Charm, as the strength of the build comes from powerful summons rather than a single damage type. This allows you to dedicate more inventory space toward defensive bonuses and quality-of-life improvements that make high-density farming smoother and safer.

Final Thoughts
Summoner Warlock is one of the most unique summoner builds in Diablo II Resurrected, offering a flexible playstyle built around commanding different types of Demons rather than relying on a single fixed army. Whether you choose aggressive physical setups with Goatmen, elemental-focused Tainted, or a hybrid approach, the build rewards smart gearing choices and proper army management.
Unlike traditional summoners that simply overwhelm enemies through numbers, Demon Summoner Warlock combines powerful minions with active positioning, allowing you to adapt your setup around different farming goals and playstyles. With key upgrades such as Enigma, Obsession, Ars Tor'Baalos, and specialized Demon-focused equipment, the build becomes an extremely safe and efficient endgame farmer capable of clearing Terror Zones, high-density areas, and challenging PvM content while maintaining one of the most distinctive experiences available in Diablo II Resurrected.
